Essential Oils: The Missing Link in Modern Medicine

June 23, 2009

What are Essential Oils: Essential Oils are aromatic volatile liquids distilled from shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes and seeds.

(Essential Oils are highly concentrated and far more potent than dried herbs.)

Application: Essential oils can be used with massage oil, ingestion, neat (undiluted) or inhalation. The application depends on the Essential Oils and the person age and medical condition. (Any one with medical conditions or taking prescription medication should consult with their Primary Care Physician)

Biblical and Ancient References to Essential Oils:

There are over 200 references to aromatics, incense and ointments throughout the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. The use of ointments and Essential Oils are used for anointing, preventing plagues, curing disease and much more throughout the Bible. Some common aromatics found in the Bible are: frankincense, myrrh, galbanum, cinnamon, cassia, rosemary, hyssop and spikenards, which were often used for anointing and healing the sick.

In Exodus 30:22-38, Moses is taught by God how to make Holy Anointing Oil which consists of myrrh, cinnamon, cane, cassia and olive oil. There are numerous examples of anointing throughout the Bible like John 12:3, “Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment.” Spikenard is good for Emotional Balance, skin and Hair.

Ecclesiastes 9:8 “Let thy garments be always white: and let thy head lack no ointment.”

The Sneak Attack

April 14, 2009
  1. What is a Sneak Attack? According to Webster dictionary: To go or move in a quiet, stealthy way.
  2. To behave in a cowardly or servile manner.

To move, give, take, or put in a quiet, stealthy manner: sneak candy into one’s mouth; sneaked a look at the grade sheet.

  1. A person regarded as stealthy, cowardly, or underhand.
  2. An instance of sneaking; a quiet, stealthy movement.
  3. Informal. A sneaker.

Carried out in a clandestine manner: sneak preparations for war. Perpetrated without warning: a sneak attack by terrorists.

We have all been attacked by Sneak Attacks, they come when you least expect them, a curve ball one might say. An example would be you are driving home full of energy, and then suddenly you are sleepy. You ask yourself, why am I so sleepy, Sneak Attack! When we are strong and we see the enemy coming we can stop it, but what happens when it comes in like a thief in the night? We handle those times different and often times don’t understand what is going on. We must learn to recognize all attacks and continuously stay in prayer. We must allow the Lord to be our Shepherd, guiding us, keeping us safe and restoring our soul. Meditate on the profound powers of his word, like Psalm 23: The LORD is my SHEPHERD; I shall not WANT. He makes me to lie down in GREEN PASTURES; He leads me beside the still waters He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. YEA THOUGH I WALK THROUGHTHE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH, I WILL FEAR NO EVIL; FOR YOU ARE WITH ME YOUR ROD AND YOUR STAFF, THEY COMFORT ME. YOU PREPARE A TABLE BEFORE ME IN THE PRESENCE OF MY ENEMIES; YOUANOINT MY HEAD WITH OIL; MY CUP RUNS OVER. SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY SHALL FOLLOW ME ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE; AND I WILL DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD FOREVER.

Now take the time to go line by line and truly understand this Psalm! Ask yourself what is a Shepherd and why is it important for me to have a Shepherd or guide? What would Green Pasture look like or still waters. Where do you need restoring and what does a righteous path look like? Continue to ask and answer this important question in your life and you will see the power of the word of God take hold and break some strong holds. Prepare you self to handle all attacks big and small and surround yourself with praying friends to help you out. Be sure to leave a post, you testimonies will help someone else.

I would like to thank God for a Praying mother, Walt Disney for making the movie “Meet The Robinson” and last but defiantly not Least Mr. and Mrs. Harrison of The Career Engineers for being prayer warriors. Help comes from many places and for all the places and people who have helped me over the years, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

Good Shepherds

March 11, 2009

By Latonya Brinson

Are we Good Shepherds? Are we faithful over the small things! According to Webster a Shepherd is:
1
: a person who tends sheep 2: pastor
3: german shepherd , all who are Very Responsible people or animals. The German shepherd is considered to be very Intelligent and Responsive, pastors are Spiritual overseer and a shepherd is someone who is very responsible. I recall a day I had no appointments and was starting to feel the pinch of the “Recession” and I prayed to God for Guidance and the Answered I heard and felt was CLEAN YOUR HOUSE! My first thought was Clean my house? but the Will of God is bigger than me so I walked into my bed room Closet. The closet was overflowing with Stuff everywhere. So I started to clean, I had clothes, shoes, hats, baby stuff and more in this small space. After 2 hours of straight work I was very upset with myself because I learned I was not a Good Shepherd. I had over 6 large trash bags of stuff that I did not or could not use. Some of the clothes were brand new with tags or baby clothes worn maybe once. I ask God for forgiveness for keeping this entire overflow for myself, so I decided to give it away (in my opinion you should not sell overflow). As soon as I made the decision to give this overflow away, God Blessed me in so many ways. God showed me that I had everything I needed and more, and by holding on to this entire overflow I was stopping someone else’s blessing. I even got phone calls from people wanting Massage appointment that I had never talk too or knew before. I was so Grateful for the lesson of a Good Shepherd. The lesson I learn was simply this: 1.Take account for what you have! To take account we first must get our house in order. Most of us have more than we need or ever could use and we just hold on to it or asking for more, buying more, or loathing for more. When I started cleaning my closet I found about $20.00 (wow I was so Happy, my husband said I get excited over anything, I tell him I am Grateful for a penny) That was $20 I did not have, and as I clean, the more pennies I found. I took an account of what I had! I (I knew where my sheep was and what I really had to work with) 2. Get rid of overflow now! I donated or gave away everything that I could not use, and promised myself not to ask for anything or buy anything until I used what I had! My Closet and my life were free of clutter, I could think better and I felt better. (I had gotten rid of all that extra sheep fur that was just taking up my valuable space) 3 Reset your priorities! Before I got married or had children, or got out the Navy it was all about me and what I wanted! I spent money with minimum thought into how much money I spent on stuff. Then I receive the best blessing in the world my family and my priorities had to change, which required a cleaning of the old so that I could have room for the new! My decisions have to take in account the whole picture, not just for the moment. I first had to be GRATEFUL of where I was at, what I had, and use the resource that was hidden by the clutter! That day my life changed and I became a better Shepherd! We are all Shepherd’s over ourselves and our possession, but are we taking care of what we have, are we reading to our kids, cleaning our house, being Grateful, showing our Appreciation with our action. I stared by cleaning my house, and the results were amazing. Next I started telling GOD everyday whether with my voice, my action and/or through my Gratitude Book THANK YOU! I thank God for this Blog! I try to be a Good Shepherd in all areas of my life, and cleaning away the Clutter. It has saved me time, frustration, money and so much more. I pray this Blog touch and change your life in the Most positive way! Leave a comment or a testimony of how being a Good Shepherd has helped you!

John 10

1I ASSURE you, most solemnly I tell you, he who does not enter by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way (elsewhere, from some other quarter) is a thief and a robber.

2But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

3The watchman opens the door for this man, and the sheep listen to his voice and heed it; and he calls his own sheep by name and brings (leads) them out.

4When he has brought his own sheep outside, he walks on before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.

5They will never [on any account] follow a stranger, but will run away from him because they do not know the voice of strangers or recognize their call.

6Jesus used this parable (illustration) with them, but they did not understand what He was talking about.

7So Jesus said again, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that I Myself am the Door [a]for the sheep.

8All others who came [as such] before Me are thieves and robbers, but the [true] sheep did not listen to and obey them.

9I am the Door; anyone who enters in through Me will be saved (will live). He will come in and he will go out [freely], and will find pasture.

10The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it [b]overflows).

11I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd risks and lays down His [own] life for the sheep.(A)

12But the hired servant (he who merely serves for wages) who is neither the shepherd nor the owner of the sheep, when he sees the wolf coming, deserts the flock and runs away. And the wolf chases and snatches them and scatters [the flock].

13Now the hireling flees because he merely serves for wages and is not himself concerned about the sheep [cares nothing for them].

14I am the Good Shepherd; and I know and recognize My own, and My own know and recognize Me–

15Even as [truly as] the Father knows Me and I also know the Father–and I am giving My [very own] life and laying it down on behalf of the sheep.

Prevent the Afternoon Slump

Some Tips for P.M. Energy

Jerry V. Teplitz

The Art of Aromatherapy

Essential Oils Provide Healing and Balance

If you’re like most people, you’ve

experienced the afternoon slump. You

know the feeling — it’s only 2 p.m., yet

you feel drained. Fortunately, you can

employ methods to reduce the slump’s

frequency and shorten its duration.

Drink water.

Your body uses water even if you’re not

exercising. If you wait until you feel

thirsty, you’re already dehydrated. Keep

a water bottle handy all day.

Avoid sugar and simple carbohydrates.

While a mid-afternoon candy bar may

give you a quick rush, it actually worsens

the slump. Instead, choose protein-rich

foods and complex carbs.

Eat small meals.

Have six small meals over the course of

the day instead of three large ones. Big

meals cause the digestive process to

divert blood from your brain to use in

the digestive track.

Evaluate your lighting.

Most offices are lit with cool, white

fluorescent tubes, which have a terrible

effect on how people feel and function

at work. A better option is

full-spectrum, fluorescent tubes.

Take time for walks.

Walking gets your blood circulating,

helps you breathe better, and stimulates

your brain due to the increased blood

flow. Take a 5- or 10-minute walk

during the day.

Meditate.

Meditation is great for rejuvenating your

body. By meditating for 15 to 20

minutes twice a day, you’re keeping your

body continually energized and rested.

Take time to breathe and stretch.

Deep breathing exercises give you an

energy boost. Also, stand up and stretch

to increase blood flow and stimulate the

lymphatic system.

Handle negativity.

Negative people and images can have a

draining effect on your energy. Make a

conscious effort to stay positive.

Aromatic essential oils extracted from

herbs, flowers, resin, wood and roots

have long been a source of healing since

ancient times, aiding in relaxation,

circulation and wound healing.

However, the use of these medicinal oils

declined as the modern pharmaceutical

industry developed. In 1928, French

chemist Rene Maurice Gattefosse revived

the use of essential oils and developed

the art and science of utilizing naturally

extracted aromatic essences from

botanicals to balance and harmonize the

health of body, mind and spirit.

Gattefosse coined the practice

aromatherapy.

Because aromatherapy’s affect on

emotional health, many massage

therapists and bodywork practitioners

incorporate this…….

WHY MASSAGE

January 23, 2009

The Fallout of Stress
Experts estimate that 80 percent to 90
percent of disease is stress-related.
Massage and bodywork is there to
combat that frightening number by
helping us remember what it means to
relax. The physical changes massage
brings to your body can have a positive
effect in many areas of your life. Besides
increasing relaxation and decreasing
anxiety, massage lowers blood pressure,
increases circulation, improves injury
recovery, encourages deep sleep, and
increases concentration. It reduces
fatigue and gives you more energy to
handle stressful situations.
Massage is a perfect elixir for good
health, but it can also provide an
integration of body and mind. By
producing a meditative state or
heightened awareness of the present
moment, massage can provide
emotional and spiritual balance,
bringing with it true relaxation and
peace.
The incredible benefits of massage are
doubly powerful if taken in regular
“doses.” Researchers from the Touch
Research Institute (TRI) at the
University of Miami, found that
recipients of massage can benefit even in
small doses (15 minutes of chair massage
or a half-hour table session). They also
note that receiving bodywork two to
three times a week is even more
beneficial. While this may not be
feasible, it’s nice to know that this
“medicine” only gets better with
frequency.
